Victoria and Jamie’s Fun-Filled Vintage Wedding

Victoria and Jamie’s late March vintage wedding at Upwaltham Barns was a day full of fun and fantastic food. The couples celebrated in style surrounded by their friends, family and quite a few games…

Finding ‘the one’

Victoria and Jamie knew what they were looking for in their Sussex wedding venue and found it at Upwaltham Barns. The setting, the space and the staff all played a big role in the couple’s decision:

“We chose Upwaltham Barns because as soon as we saw it, we fell in love and then we met the owners, Nicola and Tim and that was it!” – Victoria.

Styling Upwaltham Barns

Victoria and Jamie opted for a pink and grey colour scheme, which worked so well with the interiors of the barn wedding venue. Inspired by vintage wedding ideas, they added in lots of details to give a vintage feel to the day which really bought their theme to life. However, as Victoria and Jamie wanted to create a truly enjoyable day for their guests, even their decorations needed to be entertaining:

“We included lots quirky little things so instead of favours, there were pots full of old school toys, card games and bubbles so everyone could have some fun while they waited for their food.” – Jamie.

Dressing for the occasion

It’s fair to say that Jamie was absolutely bowled over by his bride! Her stunning strapless dress was accessorised by beautiful heart shaped jewellery and a gorgeous veil.

“Vicki’s dress was amazing! It had so many tiny sequins sewn into it and Vicki made it look even better.” – Jamie.

Her one bridesmaid, who wore a fabulous grey gown and two flower girls who stole the show in dusky pink dresses with sweet silver shoes and little star shaped wands accompanied Victoria to the ceremony.

Jamie himself was every inch the dapper groom in a blue Ted Baker lounge suit with a pink paisley tie and handkerchief. His two-tone brogues completed his vintage wedding day look perfectly.

The wedding day

Victoria, Jamie and all their guests definitely brought a fantastic atmosphere to Upwaltham Barns. For their wedding breakfast, the huge sharing platters that were served to each table were simply brilliant. This delicious feast fuelled the fun that came later on the dancefloor! Even after the wedding breakfast, there were also many more vintage wedding ideas for guests to enjoy:

“We set out a mini-Polaroid camera for the guest book and there were also little wooden hearts that people could write messages on and place in a pre-made frame. Victoria also decorated handmade stepladders – everything looked amazing but due to the way the venue was already set up, we actually didn’t have to do too much.” – Jamie.

There were a few nervous moments for Jamie earlier in the day however. Victoria was waiting in one place for her pre-ceremony interview with the Registrar whilst the Registrar was waiting in another spot! This meant that Jamie had a bit of an extra wait for his bride and he admits that panic was just starting to set in!

Wedding tips and advice:

After such a memorable and entertaining vintage wedding day, is there anything that Victoria and Jamie would do differently?

“We could only ask for more time! The day just goes by too fast…” – Jamie.
