Lizzie and Andrew's Spring WeddingLizzie and Andrew went for a colourful and relaxed spring theme with red and white colours. |
Andrew proposed to Lizzie on Shoreham beach on a sunny afternoon in July. Lizzie was taken by surprise, but said yes immediately and already had the bridal magazines by the time they got home!
After searching on the Internet and knowing that they wanted a relaxed but beautiful setting for their special day, they drew up a short list of several venues."It quickly became evident when we visited Upwaltham Barns that it was our ideal venue - a lovely setting with beautiful surroundings and a perfect size for the number of guests we wanted."

Lizzie’s dress was a very simple flowing Grecian style white Sarah Arnett dress. This was worn with cream suede handmade peep-toe Emmy shoes, a Lucy Marshall hair-piece made with crystals and pearls and earrings and necklace from Jeremy Hoye's 'Tulip' collection, to match the wedding and engagement rings.
Lizzie's bridesmaids wore deep scarlet dresses with cream shrugs and red shoes.
They travelled to Upwaltham Barns in a Daimler DS720 7 seater Limousine in black over ivory.
Andrew, his bestman and his Dad all wore morning suites with a red waistcoat and cream cravat.
Lizzie and Andrew chose a collection of spring flowers in red and white including tulips, peonies, anemones and roses. They had a long top table with 7 round tables with white table cloths and napkins. Red disposable cameras and candles in red glass holders were positioned around the centrepiece. Little decorative crystals and confetti in the initials A&L were scattered on the tables. Each place had a hand-made name card with the same motif as on the wedding invitations and stationary.

The table centrepieces were displayed in 2.1/2ft tall thin clear vases filled with crystal gel. The arrangements themselves were mounted in posy holders and consisted of an assortment of bright red spring flowers with greenery. This allowed all the guests to see each other without any flowers being in the way, whilst still creating a wonderful floral effect.
For favours each guest was given 4 handmade organic truffles from Motezuma's. The truffles were presented in a small white box with red ribbon tied around them. There were also personalised Love Heart sweets. Their wedding cake was a 2 tier choccywoccydoodah 'Vortex' cake in red and white with gold glitter which needed to be seen to be believed!!
We asked Lizzie what the best part of her day was; "It's almost impossible to single out any one particular part of the day. However, a dance class by Graham LeClerc of LeRoc dance in the evening got everyone up and involved. Some of the dance moves were interesting, but everyone had a fantastic fun time and Graham is a brilliant teacher!

We also asked Lizzie if they had learnt anything that was an important tip for future wedding couples; “Take a bit of time for yourselves on the day. With our wedding car hire, part of the bundle included a short ride out and a drink on our own. If you are having the reception at the same venue as the ceremony, it's lovely to have a few minutes alone to reflect on everything before coming back to the party. It also means the groom gets a nice big arrival which he wouldn't otherwise have!”
